Custom Zipper-around Medical Carrying Case
Profile
Client from Medical Device Company
Headquaters
Spain
Background Info
This Spanish medical equipment company specializes in rehabilitation therapy for neuromuscular diseases and has been using medical EVA cases. They now wish to improve and modernize these cases.
Challenges
The pocket on the top shell should have a zipper that goes all the way around, which sets it apart from the typical design of having a middle or two-thirds opening. This approach is more challenging to execute.
Beneath the top shell’s zipper-around pocket, there should be two evenly-spaced mesh pockets with elastic locking system.
The bottom shell should have an EVA molded tray inside with multiple slots to organize items. Jedoch, these slots might appear cramped within the limited space of the tray.
Solutions
To fulfill the requirements, it is necessary to implement a zipper that goes around the entire perimeter of the shell. Jedoch, it is advised not to stitch the zipper all the way to the edge of the outer shell. Leaving a 1-1.5 cm margin as a buffer can result in a more aesthetically pleasing appearance and reduce the rejection rate.
The two mesh pockets requested should be sewn onto an additional flat tray and then adhered to the inside of the top shell.
Given the numerous and tightly packed tray slots, it is essential to use high-density multispandex for the molded tray to prevent surface whitening.
Custom EVA Case for Active Medical Device
Profile
Client from Medical Device Company
Headquaters
France
Background Info
This client comes from a renowned company based in France, whose main product is medical device, and their medical products conform to ISO 13485 standard and ISO 14001 environmental protection standard. They used to use plastic storage boxes to store their products, but later they found KinFish Case and hoped that we could make EVA boxes suitable for some medical devices.
Challenges
To meet the client’s requirements, the box surface must be made of waterproof woven fabric that is easy to clean and disinfect, and does not leave any traces.
The box needs to have a comfortable and minimalist handle and shoulder strap.
The interior of the box needs to be fitted with a foam insert to hold various components, including ECG Tip Location System, ECG cable, a 10-inch tablet and its power supply, a USB key, instruction manual, and USB adapter.
Solutions
It adopts waterproof 1680D Nylon, which is durable, waterproof, and easy to clean and maintain.
The handle is designed with a rubber grip for simplicity and comfort. The shoulder strap is equipped with a shoulder pad to enhance comfort.
The bottom shell has a high-density foam insert suitable for slots to store items other than the tablet and user manual. The top shell provides an egg-crate foam and detachable strap, making it easy to place and remove the tablet and providing better protection. The egg-crate foam allows the user manual to be directly hidden under the foam, effectively utilizing space without occupying the bottom inner foam.
Medical Devices Organizer with Fixed Angel
Profile
Client from Medical Device Company
Headquaters
Germany
Background Info
A German startup brand for self-test medical device. They need integrated EVA cases for some of their medical kits.
Challenges
The tablet has to be placed in the top shell, and this allows instant use without removing it from the shell. Besides, the top shell has to stay at a 135-degree angle during use.
Other devices and accessories should be well-organized and stored in the bottom shell.
The bottom shell in depth is more than 10cm, that would cause wrinkles and cracks on the surface easily.
The box should look premium.
Solutions
Since the devices and accessories come in different sizes and heights, the slots in the bottom shell must vary in depth accordingly. To cushion the items effectively, we use an engraved EVA foam insert, which not only provides excellent protection but also enhances the aesthetics of the product. As for the top shell, our engineer has crafted precise slots to securely hold the tablet, while ensuring optimal protection.
To fix the upper shell at a 135-degree angle without it falling off during use, we add two webbings on the left and right sides of the upper shell, and connect each of them to the bottom shell. With this design, the upper shell can remian fixed in place.
To prevent wrinkles and cracks from occurring, both the exterior and interior materials should be stretchy.
To convey a premium appearance both inside and out, we use soft and stretchy fabrics for a sleek and polished exterior design and a high-end metal handle to showcase the unique manufacturing process.
Custom Waterproof (Submerged) Watch Case
Profile
Luxury Submerged Watch Brand
Headquaters
Switzerland
Background Info
Swiss luxury watch brand manufacturer with over 100 years of experience. The client needs a waterproof type of EVA case, BUT NOT those types which water floats on the surface. Instead, the case can be fully submerged in the water, and no water comes inside of it.
Challenges
This case has to be fully waterproof on the outside and inside, so that the watch inside won’t be stained. And that means no needle holes at all on the case, and thus we can’t simply sew the zipper in a traditional method.
Inside the case, there should be a tray to hold the watch. The tray should be removable and can function as a display platform. So, regular foam insert is not quite suitable for this purpose.
Solutions
To ensure that the box is completely waterproof, the main body of the box must not have any stitching holes. The zipper must be first adhered to the outer shell, and then compressed with a specific machine to achieve the best sealing effect. For exterior material, we use 600D polyester, which is waterproof and durable.
To make the tray removable and can function as a display platform, we design a display board. The disign board can securely hold the watch and can be positioned upright for marketing presentation.
Custom EVA Case with Heat Preservation
Profile
Client from Sporting Goods Company
Headquaters
U.S.
Background Info
A well-known sports brand in the United States. The client wants to develop an EVA carrying case that can keep its new products, ice packs cold. They’re bored by the sameness of the soft bags in the recent market, and they expect something new and novel.
Challenges
The products consist of a pair of compression leggings and four ice packs.
The carrying case must be able to keep ice packs cold for hours.
There should be a flap for the bottom shell, which provides seperate compartments for the ice packs and leggings.
Solutions
EVA itself has a certain thermal insulation effect. Jedoch, to keep the items cold requires more than that. For interior material, we employ insulated materials, as well as combining EPE foam, to optimize the thermal effect.
There's more to take into consideration. Due to the low density of the flap, it may not achieve the best thermal effect. So, we suggest adding a pocket above the bottom shell. Inside the pocket, EPE foam works as a middle layer, with a zipper above. In this way, the bottom shell work as a separated compartment, which is excellent in closeness and thermal effect. Our test confirms that this EVA carry case can keep the ice packs cold for up to 6 hours!
Custom Bluetooth Headphone Case
Profile
High-end Audio Brand
Headquaters
Germany
Background Info
A high-end audio brand from Germany. He wants to customize an EVA case for its brand-new headphone. The case should have a premium and sleek look, and the zipper should be sewn inside.
Challenges
Unlike regular zipper that sewn onto the outside edge, this zipper should be sewn inside the case. This demands good craftsmanship from the workers. Besides, the finish better comes without edge binding.
The exterior material should look premium and feel of high quality.
Solutions
This case consists of an outer shell and thermoformed EVA tray. We have chosen to clamp the zipper between the outer shell and tray, allowing the zipper band to be decorated nicely. This is called the "clamping zipper" method. Then, enlightened by leather bag processing, we use leathercraft edge enamel for case finish. For EVA case, this is a novel try.
We employ high-end leather to make the case look premium and enhance the quality of the leathercraft edge works.

Challenges
The material for the exterior should be PU, with a metal tooth zipper. The challenge is to have a large pouch inside the bottom shell to hold the purifying device, as well as four elastic bands to hold the purifying liquid bottles.

Custom EVA Case without Zippers
Profile
Camera Filters Company
Headquaters
U.S.
Background Info
A brand in the United States that specializes in camera filters.
Challenges
The box should not have a zipper closure and should be easy to open quickly. The interior of the box needs to have an accordion structure.
Solutions
Traditional closure methods without a zipper prefer using an outer strap with Velcro, which may not allow the two covers to close tightly, resulting in misalignment and obvious gaps.
We choose to add a plastic frame around the inner edge of the bottom shell, allowing the top and bottom shells to fit together perfectly.
EVA Foam Insert for Demonstration Case
Profile
A Dutch brand specializing in blinds
Headquaters
Netherlands
Background Info
This is a company specilizes in making blinds. They showed us an MDF case, and was hoping to get CNC-cut EVA foam insert.
Challenges
Replacable photoprint inside cover lid.
A slightly rigid insert is required to hold flat cardboard with ringbinder and wooden blind samples.
The case should close using magnetic fasteners.
The depth of the insert slots varies.
Solutions
We wanted to make sure that our photoprints were easy to swap out, so we decided to use Velcro. By sticking Velcro to the back of the photoprints with industrial-strength adhesive, we made sure that the photos would stay put, but could also be changed without any hassle.
Instead of multiple layers, which can result in visible seams, we use CNC router carving to create an EVA insert, ensuring a seamless one-piece design and accomodating the varying slot depth.
The magnets are embedded inside the fabric lining.
